Location Details
The Lane Libraries Community Technology Center is located in the former Journal News building. The center offers a high-tech collaborative work/play/create space with public use computers (both PC and Mac), Adobe Creative Cloud software, a Cricut Maker 3, 3D printers and wifi available throughout.

Parking Info
Parking is free at all metered spots after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and on weekends. Before 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, there is metered parking on High Street, a metered parking lot located next to the Tech Center, and the McDulin parking garage, which is free for the first 2 hours and $.75 for each hour after that.
Classes/Workshops
Knowledgeable staff are available to answer your questions about eReaders, tablets, computers, software, 3D printing and other technologies. They also offer several free classes, workshops, and special events on a regular basis, including:
- One-on-one computer instruction for beginners and up
- Resume writing and job seeking resources
- Tech/STEM classes and resources for tweens, teens and adults
- Individual help using Lane’s online resources
If you see a class that you’re interested in but can’t attend, ask us about setting up an individual or group session.

Adults. Learn how to use a computer, type and get mouse instruction, and how to use Northstar – a computer basics program – to learn at your own pace.
Do you live or work in downtown Hamilton? Do you like to read eBooks or listen to audiobooks on Hoopla? If so, then this is the book club for you! Bring your lunch and join us for a laid back, casual discussion.
Teens/Adults. Make a heart shaped trinket dish just in time for Valentine’s Day! In part 1, learn the basics of using air dry clay to assemble your trinket dish. In part 2, paint and decorate your dish!
Starting Feb 1. All ages. Get ready for spring! Learn to make your own pom-poms out of yarn and fashion them into fuzzy little hedgehogs. (Available while supplies last.)
Teens/Adults. In this beginner-friendly sewing workshop, learn the basics of how to use a sewing machine to craft your own simple heart-shaped tote bag.
Technology at Your Fingertips
The Tech Center boasts an extensive list of hardware and software for your use.
Patrons can access the Adobe Creative Cloud software via the Tech Center's AudioVisual Lab. Software options include Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, & more.
Patrons can book a time in the AudioVisual Lab to use Adobe software, make use of the green screen, camera, light box, Wacom drawing tablets, and recording equipment.
The Cricut can be used to make cards, decals, and much more! Use of the machine is free, but patrons will need to bring their own materials. Also available: Mug Press & Heat Press.
We have two sewing machines, the Brother and the Janome which are available free of charge to patrons who bring their own thread and materials.
The Sawgrass SG500 prints on media up to 8.5˝ x 11˝ (22 x 36 cm). This media can then be applied, via heat transfer, to sublimation-ready products like mugs, shirts, and more.
The mug press transfers printed sublimation materials onto rounded sublimation-ready products like mugs and thermoses. Max dimensions: 10" x 4".
The crenova laminator is available free of charge to patrons who supply their own laminator pouches. Max dimensions: 8.5".
A variety of tools and electronics, including (but not limited to) precision hand tools, a drill, dremel and rotary tools, a heat gun, soldering irons, a multimeter, breadboards, wire, and Arduino starter kits are available for patron use.
A variety of art supplies, including (but not limited to) paint, various papers, washi tape, bookbinding tools, leatherworking tools, and more are available to patrons.
