Oxford Lane Library

2/9 Oxford Lane Library Update: Clean up operations are underway following last week's fire. We hope to open the building sometime next week. The Children's Department will remain closed for more extensive clean up and repair. All item holds will be extended until reopening and returns can still be made if they fit in the drive-thru book drops. Reminder, there are no fees for overdue items.

If we do not own an item you want, we offer you the free service of borrowing it from another library when possible. This interlibrary loan service takes place through SearchOhio.

Use SearchOhio

Using SearchOhio

  • Search for desired item within the SearchOhio catalog.
  • When item is located, click on REQUEST.
  • Login to your account by choosing  Lane Libraries from Institution drop-down list.
  • Enter your LIBRARY CARD NUMBER. (PIN not required)
  • Choose your pick up location.
  • Click SEND.
  • The item will be pulled off of the owning library’s shelf and delivered to the Lane Library location you specified
     

Item Status

  • Once the item is ready and available for you to pick up  you will receive a courtesy notice letting you know that it has arrived.
     

SearchOhio Policies

  • Items are usually available within 7-10 business days.
  • Items will remain on hold shelf for 10 days.
  • Loan period is 21 days for printed items and 7 days for DVDs. All other material may vary as to checkout date depending on the lending institution. Make sure to check your receipt upon checkout.
  • An additional replacement fee of $25.00 will be billed for any item not returned within 30 days of the due date.
  • You may renew SearchOhio items up to 3 times as long as they are not requested at the owning library.
  • You must call the Lane Libraries to renew your SearchOhio items.  This cannot be done online and SearchOhio items are not included in the auto renewal feature.

A major upgrade to this system will take place May 23 - mid February. You will not be able to borrow or renew items from OhioLINK collections during this time.

OhioLINK is a consortium of Ohio’s college and university libraries and the State Library of Ohio.

OhioLINK Policies

  • Items are usually available within 7-10 business days.
  • Items will remain on hold shelf at pickup institution for 10 days.
  • Loan period is 21 days for printed items (6 renewals if no holds on item) and 7 days for media (no renewals).
  • An additional replacement fee of $125.00 will be billed for any item not returned within 30 days of the due date.
  • Borrowing privileges are denied to any user who has one or more overdue items on account.
  • OhioLINK policies, fines and charges are determined by the OhioLINK consortium and cannot be waived or negotiated.

Interlibrary Loan Service

Interlibrary loans are available through OCLC WorldShare for items not found in the Lane Libraries collections. These items cost a minimum of $5 per item. If the item will cost more than $5, it will be communicated prior to completing the request. Borrowing periods are determined by the library lending the item and will vary. It usually takes 7 - 10 days to fulfill these requests.
