Library Buildings Now Open

The Lane Libraries buildings are now open to patrons. The libraries will be open normal hours Monday – Saturday, but will remain closed on Sundays for the immediate future. The buildings will be open only to seniors and members of vulnerable populations for the first two hours of each day.

The Lane Community Technology Center in Hamilton and the Smith History Library in Oxford will be open by appointment only until further notice. Appointments can be made by calling the Tech Center at (513) 785-2727 and Smith History Library at (513) 523-3035 or emailing sml@lanepl.org.

The Lane Bookmobile will be making visits to the community again soon. We are currently working on the safest way to serve patrons with a limited Bookmobile schedule and will provide an update on this service in the coming days.

Important information to understand before visiting the Lane Libraries during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic:
  • There will be an occupancy limit of 50 people at a time in each building. Patrons will be asked to wait outside if the occupancy limit has been reached inside the building. Some entrances may be temporarily closed during this time and occupancy limits may also be required in busy areas within the library.
  • Masks are currently required due to the increase in cases of COVID-19 in Butler County. Masks will be available if you do not have one.
  • Patrons and staff will be expected to maintain physical distancing guidelines of six feet or more.
  • Length of visits: We encourage you to use the services needed, but not stay in the building longer than necessary. We recommend visits of one hour or less for most situations.
  • Returns will continue to be handled only through the drop boxes due to the need to quarantine these items before they are checked in.
  • Patrons will be asked to sanitize their hands at the hand sanitizing station at the entrance before proceeding into the building. Hand sanitizing stations will also be available throughout the building.
  • Food and drinks in open containers are currently prohibited.
For the safety of our community, there will be no programming or use of meeting spaces in the buildings at this time. We will continue to offer our online Summer Reading Adventure (ends August 1), take-home craft projects, virtual programs and story times.

Summer Reading Adventure
The annual Summer Reading Adventure is in full swing! If you haven’t signed up yet for this free reading program, visit www.lanepl.org/summerreading to get started. The program is available to patrons of all ages and runs until August 1.

We greatly appreciated everyone’s patience as we reopened our drive-thru windows and experienced a flood of familiar faces! We will continue to serve the community in this capacity as we await results from a state-wide study on the safe handling of library materials and prepare our buildings to accommodate social distancing guidelines and best practices. Again, we thank you for your patience and wonderful support of your Lane Libraries.
