Lane Tech Center

The Lane Libraries Community Technology Center is located on the ground floor of the historic Robinson-Schwenn Building at 10 Journal Square. The center offers a high-tech collaborative work/play/create space with public use computers (both PC and Mac), high-end software, tablet and eReader demo displays, a 3D printer, and comfortable lounge-style seating with wifi available throughout.

The Tech Center is open:

The Tech Center offers several free classes, workshops, and special events on a regular basis, including:

  • Computer classes for users of all levels

  • Digital photography workshops and downtown photo walks

  • Resume writing and job seeking programs

  • Cutting the cord classes (freeing yourself from cable while still watching what you want)

  • The online marketplace (buying and selling online)

  • 3D printing

Knowledgeable staff are available to answer your questions about eReaders, tablets, computers, software, 3D printing, and other technologies.

The Tech Center boasts an extensive list of software and hardware for your use. Some of the highlights include:

  • Adobe Creative Cloud

  • Tablets for in-house use (iPad mini, Kindle Fire, Google Nexus, etc.)

  • Wacom Tablets

  • High Contrast Keyboards

  • Samsung Google Chromebooks

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)

  • iMovie – video editor

  • iPhoto – digital photo manipulation software

  • Blender – 3D computer graphic software

3D Printing

The Tech Center provides 3D printing as a service. The materials used in the 3D printing process are provided at cost and fees for printing are assessed according to each printed item weight by gram ($.10 per gram, rounded to the nearest gram. Price is subject to change at any time).

Meeting room

Community groups may schedule meetings, free of charge, provided that all meetings must be open to the public and non-profit, civic, cultural or educational in nature. Please visit to view the complete Meeting Room policy. The Tech Center meeting room holds a maximum of 12 people. Ask about reserving the Smartboard for your meeting!

Parking Info

Parking is free at all metered spots after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and weekends. Before 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, there is free 2-hour parking on High Street, a metered parking lot located behind the Tech Center, and the McDulin parking garage, which is free for the first 2 hours and $.75 for each hour after that.
