The Lane Libraries is committed to serving people who are unable to visit the library building in person due to age or physical disability. Outreach services for seniors is a part of Lane's Bookmobile Services.

What programs are offered?

  • Lobby Stop Service
    Lobby service at retirement or assisted living centers is conducted on a monthly basis at a variety of locations in Lane's service area.
    Carts loaded with library favorites are brought to the center and wheeled into the lobby. Residents can choose from a selection of books and media materials. Library staff are present to assist in selection, provide reader's advisory and place holds on popular titles.

  • Deposit collections
    Deposit collections of books (including fiction and nonfiction in regular or large print), videos, DVDs, CDs and audio books (CD or cassette) are exchanged bimonthly at senior institutions, assisted living centers and adult daycares.

    • Craft and Gardening books
    • Coffee table books
    • Sing-A-Long books and videos

For these facilities, the library also provides Programming Kits for Seniors designed to stimulate
the memories and communication skills of older adults.
