Summer Programs

(Due to a building renovation now in progress at the Hamilton Lane Library, children's summer programs will take place in a number of Hamilton locations. Many of our summer programs are in partnership with the city of Hamilton's Parks Departments, happening at various city parks. Please note the program location included in each program description.)

Summer Reading Challenge: Entertain Your Brain
June 1 - August 15
This summer, entertain your brain with books and programs at the Lane Libraries. Children of all ages are invited to participate in the summer reading challenge. For every 20 books you read OR 12 hours of reading you participate in, complete a game card, return it to the Children's Department at the Hamilton, Fairfield or Oxford Lane Library or on the Bookmobile and you will be eligible to win the grand prize of a bike! Preschool Story Time

Lights, Camera, Podcast! ®

Tuesdays, June 10 - July 1

Choose one of your favorite books to talk about and join in to produce a podcast starring you! Share your book review on camera during the program and see your very own podcast on Lane's Web site for everyone to view. Registration covers all four sessions.

Gardening Fun and Birds, Too

Find out what birds like to eat and then make your own bird feeder. We'll plant some seeds and you'll learn how to start your own garden at home.

Bike Safety and Bike Parade

Learn about bike safety from one of Hamilton's own bike patrolmen. Then decorate your bike and join in a parade.

Race Day

Who's the speediest? Let's find out! We'll paint Hot Wheels cars and race them on our track, then have foot races and sack races, too!

Scavenger Hunt

Create your own scavenger hunt in a bottle to share with friends. And are you good at figuring out clues? Then letterboxing is for you! We'll make our own letterboxes and hide them, and go on a treasure hunt to find them all!

Reading Challenge and Puzzle Your Brain Week

Ages 6 - up
Stop by the Children's Department and pick up a different puzzle to solve each day. We challenge you to see who can read the most books this week! We'll keep track of your progress in the Children's Department.

"High School Musical 2" at Veteran's Park

This is a family event
Veteran's Park, 20 New London Road
The Hamilton Parks and Recreation Department will be showing "High School Musical 2" at Veteran's Park at dusk. Come at 7:30 and join us for karaoke, dancing, "Zanessa" sightings and other HSM2 activities!
