Reading Challenge: Entertain Your Brain
June 1 - August 15
This summer, entertain your brain with books and programs at the Lane
Libraries. Children of all ages are invited to participate in the summer
reading challenge. For every 20 books you read OR 12 hours of reading
you participate in, complete a game card, return it to the Children's
Department at the Hamilton, Fairfield or Oxford Lane Library or on the
Bookmobile and you will be eligible to win the grand prize of a bike!

Kinderballet Presents The Story of Sleeping Beauty

Create a journal to use for the puzzle scavenger hunt through the Fairfield
Village Green area between June 19 and August 9. As you search for solutions
to the various puzzles, record your answers in your journal. Once you
have solved all the puzzles, bring your journal to the Children's area
for one final puzzle clue.

Safety with Officer Bob ®

Hamilton Police Officer Bob Gentry presents traffic safety, gun safety,
how the police keep us safe and how we can help the police. After meeting
with Officer Bob, children will meet his horse, Sydney, who is part
of the Hamilton Police Mounted Patrol.
Fire Safety

Ages 3 - 12
The Fairfield Fire Department uses the "Safety House" to instruct
children, ages 3 - 12, how to keep safe in a fire emergency, and in
a weather emergency. Due to the limited space in the "Safety House,"
children will go through in shifts. While waiting their turn, children
can listen to stories or browse for books.

Our Bodies Safe & Private ®
Friday, August 15, 10:00 a.m.
Children ages 3 - 9 and their parents
Linda Church, Butler County Community Counseling Center, will talk to
children and parents in a 2-part program. Parents will have an opportunity
to learn how to open dialog with their children about stranger danger
and how children can keep their bodies safe and private while the children
are in a special story time in the Children's Area. Together, parents
and children will view a film and meet with Linda Church.
