Ages 7 - 12
Join our online book reviews. Arrange for a time to have your book review filmed on camera. Your review will appear on the Lane Web site to promote your favorite "kid picked" book.

This summer, explore foreign lands through language. Research a new phrase or word each week when you visit the Children's Department and wow your family and friends!

Story Time

Hear stories read from books that are full of wonderful and rare words, learn about letters and increase your pre-reading skills.

Enjoy books and songs! New words are introduced in this program, including rhymes and patterns that invite children to join in.

Build a foundation of literacy for learning by talking, cuddling, rocking and singing to your baby. We introduce music, books, finger plays and songs to support this process.

Get a Clue @ Your Library
Sunday, June 14 - Saturday, August 15
Ages 6 - 12
Pick up a clue packet in the Children's Department and solve a series of puzzling mysteries. The clues lead you on an exciting search around the library, surfing on the library's Web site and even challenging your math and language arts skills. Solve all the clues, record your answers and return the packet to a librarian in the Children's Department for a prize.

We'll combine simple yoga poses with storytelling techniques that encourage the use of imagination and creative movement. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat or blanket.

Seussical Family Fun Spectacular

Meet the cast of the Fairfield Summer Community Theatre production of "Seussical the Musical" and enjoy family fun, Seussical games and activities.

Banana 500 ®

Contest open to children ages 6 - 12
Construct a racecar using a banana for the chassis. Cars will be judged on how creatively they are constructed. There will be games and activities for the whole family. Registration required for contest only.

Back-To-School Safety Series

Prepare your children on how to be safe this school year by attending these fun and informative programs.

Police Safety With Officer Bob ®
Thursday, August 13, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 3 - 9
Hamilton Police Officer Bob Gentry presents traffic safety, gun safety, how the police keep us safe and how we can help the police. Children will also meet his horse, Sydney, who is part of the Hamilton Police Mounted Patrol.

Keeping Our Bodies Safe & Private ®
Wednesday, August 19, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 3 - 9
Linda Church, Butler County Community Counseling Center, will talk to children and parents in a 2-part program. Parents will have an opportunity to learn how to open dialog with their children about stranger danger and how children can keep their bodies safe and private while the children are in a special story time. Together, parents and children will view a film and meet with Linda Church.
