Lane Public Library Bookmobile Department
As defined
by its Board of Trustees, the mission of the Lane Public Library (LPL)
and its staff members is to provide and promote library resources
to meet the educational, recreational, cultural, civic, and informational
needs of the librarys service area.

Library Assistant - Bookmobile
Grade: 7
Reports to: Bookmobile Services Manager FLSA:
Non-Exempt
JOB RESPONSIBILIES:
- Assists
and instructs patrons in locating and using library resources and services,
refers to colleagues as needed
- Assists
with planning programs, outreach activities, exhibits, displays and
tours; presents programs under the supervision of the department head
- Performs
circulation desk routines, registers and maintains patron circulation
records, prepares library cards, checks library materials in and out
- Performs
circulation money procedures, collects fines and fees, balances cash
drawers
- Prepares
reserve holds and transfers items to other locations
- Routes,
shelves and retrieves books and other library materials for patron use
- Performs
basic repairs on library materials as assigned
- Prepares
teacher collections under the direction of the department head
- Assists
in schedule preparation
- Assists
in overseeing smooth operation of Bookmobile services
- Drives
bookmobiles and vans; delivers materials as scheduled
- Performs
routine clerical tasks (e.g., files, types, enters data, maintains inventory
of supplies, etc.)
- Chairs
and serves on various teams and committees
REQUIRED
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Operates
personal computers; demonstrates ability to pass keyboarding test
- Organizes,
analyzes, and prioritizes work skillfully and efficiently
- Communicates
effectively
- Maintains
confidentiality
- Works
both independently and with appropriate training and supervision
- Maintains
professionalism at all times
REQUIRED
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- High school
diploma plus some college coursework or equivalent
OTHER
REQUIREMENTS:
- Works
flexible schedule, which includes evenings and weekends
- Assists
other agencies/departments, as needed
- Valid
driver's license, CDL may be required
Part-time,
25 hours per week @ $10.41 per hour. Excellent benefits including paid vacation
and sick leave after one full year of employment.
