Lane Libraries Mock Caldecott 2009

On January 15, the Lane Libraries held the 2nd Annual Mock Caldecott Award event in anticipation of the official 2009 Randolph Caldecott Medal being awarded on January 26.

Gratia Banta, Coordinator of Youth Services, shares that "We hold this event in order to know our collection more deeply and to be able to share it with the public in new ways." Local teachers, librarians, university professors, and the public were invited to attend the discussion and vote to choose the winner.

The Mock Caldecott winner was Pete and Pickles, written and illustrated by Berkeley Breathed. The winning book, honor books and nominated titles are available for check out at the Lane Libraries. Look for the official Randolph Caldecott Medal winner, to be announced Monday, January 26, at www.ala.org.
