ABOUT THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS

The League of Women Voters, organized in 1920 to educate women in the newly
won right to vote, began accepting men as full members in 1974. The League
is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages the informed and
active participation of citizens in government and seeks to influence
public policy through education and advocacy.

WE ACT after study and member agreement to achieve solutions in the public
interest on key community issues at all government levels;
WE BUILD citizen participation in the democratic process; and,
WE ENGAGE communities in promoting positive solutions to public policy
